Hello every one! Time goes fast and I
taught the second class the last Monday. Well, this time I cannot say that it
was a good experience because it was not well at all, but I just understood
that we can learn from bad and good experiences.
This time I needed to lead with some
uncomfortable situations which made me feel angry, nervous, and I got
desperate, so I could not teach a good class as my students deserved. The point
is that I had prepared everything and that problem was that someone “stole”
some time from my class, and I could not perform the wrap up.
Just moving on, I taught the use of
the “Possessive ‘s”. As a warm up, I made a short brainstorm using a game named
“The broken telephone”. I divided the class into two groups. Students made two
lines, and I told the last student a sentence using Possessive adjectives and
Possessive pronouns. The students
whispered the sentence and the
first one must write down the sentence on the board. I made that activity because
those were the topics that they learned before.
Then, for the presentation I show
them a video on the use of the Possessive ‘s, and of course after that, it was
time to teach the grammar part. I provide many examples per each rule, and of
course some charts using nice colors because I considered that It was a nice
way to catch their attention.
I provided many activities, such as:
fill in the blanks, and of course some free practice activities in order to
them to speak because they love speaking in the class.
To sum up, I can say that I just
learned a lot from that experience, and I hope to have a better one the next
class.
You are always creative, and that is a very good charateristic in you! Congratulations! Well, a bad experience is always tough, but as you wrote, it is a way of learning. Things do not work as we want all the time, and we must deal with that. You did your best, but unfortunately, someone did not allow you to do even better than you did. Anyways, do not see it as good or bad experience, just one experience more that will help you through your career. I hope you do not have more problems like this in the other courses. I encourage you to keep doing well as you have so far :).
ResponderEliminarI think you tried to do your best as always. I know there are some things that do not depend on us; however, there is also something good to learn from every bad experience. Remember that psycology says we learn from mistakes. That's the way life is. It's good to vary the kind of resources to teach the class. The LCD projector is cool. Above all Isa, I think you did well. My best wishes for you for the next time ok.
ResponderEliminarI can see that you and I had the same ideas Isabel because, in my class, I did pretty much the same. The difference was the topic.
ResponderEliminarI consider that as teachers we can have control of some things, but there are some others in which we can or can't be ready to face; nevertherless, there's something positive of what happened to you. Now, Im pretty sure you will know what to do if the same happens to you.
Blessings my friend.
Plan B is always important, but that you weren't able to develope the warp-up doesn't mean that you didn't do a great job teaching. The good lessons are those in which you understand with what the teacher says....that "time-stoler" was just an unexpected situation and you have to know that it wasn't your foul and you have not to get sad because of it....it just a new opportunity to know what to keep in mind when you plan a lesson.......well use of visual aids!
